Hyper PV Technology Co., Ltd (hereafter as "HyperPV") in China fabricated an organic photovoltaic (OPV) cell with a certified steady-state efficiency of 19.4% based on 1.003 cm2 area. The certified testing was carried out by the Chinese National Photovoltaic Industry Measurement and Testing Center (NPVM).

Researchers in HyperPV developed the OPV cell with ternary approach with commercially available polymer donor D18, nonfullerene acceptor L8-BO, and fullerene acceptor PC61BM. The third component PC61BM was added to improve the stability of the cell. The cell has an open-circuit voltage (VOC) of 0.934 V, a short circuit current (JSC) of 26.31 mA/cm2, and a fill factor (FF) of 79.2%. The cell maintained a stable state during the Maximum Efficiency Point Tracking Output (MPPT) test. The relative fluctuation of the output power of the OPV cell was less than 0.1% for a total test time of 5 minutes.
